More unexpectedly, the epidemic and lockdowns have sparked needs and desires for professional development among many employees and companies. These are all challenges for which we are preparing.
Digitization of training
The sudden arrival of the health crisis and the subsequent lockdown required a rapid adaptation from those involved in continuing education. Unable f5’s new report highlights the progress of digital transformation to maintain traditional teaching methods, distance learning—and therefore the digitalization of training —became a necessity for everyone.
Our university continuing education center had to offer live videoconferencing courses using proven tools like Zoom and Teams. Along with the teaching team, we had to adapt quickly and pay particular attention to the quality of the delivery and the teaching methods. For example, we had to allow for longer breaks to avoid the cognitive overload often caused by digital learning.
Sustainable educational innovations
Bringing together participants from diverse backgrounds, many of whom are currently working, continuing education has always encouraged interactivity and collaboration, in order to create a good group dynamic in each year group. The pandemic has forced us to rethink the ways in which learners and teachers interact .
Increase exchanges
Whether in-person or remotely, the human dimension must remain at the heart of teaching, especially in times of crisis. This is one of the key lessons of the pandemic: it is essential to maintain and even increase connections with learners .
Teachers also had to think about how to energize their lessons to encourage interaction and maintain a good level of engagement throughout the program.
Introduce interactive tools
To facilitate exchanges between students in person and remotely, the adoption of interactive tools quickly proved to be an asset. Encouraging group work and learning, they also have the advantage of breaking the isolation that we usa b2b list sometimes feel alone in front of our computer at home. At HEC Lausanne Executive Education, for example, we have opted for the Miro visual platform for certain workshops or the subgroup functionality in Zoom .
Hybrid teaching: a sustainable evolution
Once classrooms were allowed to reopen (in compliance with federal regulations), a period of hybrid teaching began. A new challenge arose because having people both in person and remotely, in the classroom, at work, and at home, required skill and flexibility.
Starting in May 2021, the HEC Faculty chose to equip itself with an immersive room called the Horizon Room . This room is equipped with a six-meter-wide screen that allows teachers to deliver their courses with the impression of being in a face-to-face class. It can accommodate 20 people in person and 49 remote participants.
Above all, it will make it possible to perpetuate the hybridization of teaching in the service of continuing education , to train company employees wherever they are located.
